LizzyChrome As a hardcore fan of Peter Lorre, I praise "Corpse Bride" for being a rare example of a cartoon that spoofs Peter Lorre WELL. Most Peter Lorre spoofs just do the sad eyes and a crappy immigration of his voice; Maggot was not only a decent voice impression, they got PL's expressions and slinking mannerisms in well.

I also just like the movie for being a good movie. A reminder that Tim Burton is a genius when he wants to be.

doolhoofd I'll definitely be checking Peter Lorre out!

LizzyChrome if you like Maggot at all you MUST check out Peter Lorre. He was beyond awesome.

doolhoofd Wait... he's an actor, he starred in movies...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Lo…

Or is this the wrong Lorre?

LizzyChrome  Nope, that's the right Lorre!

If he doesn't resemble Maggot as much as you were expecting, it's because you just met him. Peter Lorre's expressions, voice and creepiness could fluctuate, depending on the role he was playing.

Here's a clip from "Casablanca," where he's pretty Maggot-esque (he enters the scene at 0:50): www.youtube.com/watch?v=BztF71…

And here's pne from "Maltese Falocn," where he actually manages to be even weirder: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGuNGX…

And finally, a clip from some movie I haven't seen yet (he enters at 2:10): www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K4ddv…

doolhoofd Ah, yes, now I see. You know, when an animated worm in a Tim Burton movie behaves like that, I haven't a problem with it, but when a grown man behaves like that, well, it's just plain weird.

two-wheel-bicycle I'll have you know I suffer from Asshole Synthesis Syndrome(ASS) which causes the chronic formation of assholes all over my body, leading to the ultimate conversion of myself into a huge asshole. I am very offended by this thread. Also, as a giant asshole, "dick" is my trigger word :(

rosa-arcoiris I think I might have it, too. :saddummy:

Didj Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to rock bottom. I just watched the trailer. I don't know how to describe the feeling it gives me... it's kind of that feeling that you get when your mom tries to act all  hip and jive to relate to you young kids but ultimately fails and just embarrasses you. That's the feeling.

Blur-Falco One more thing, I spent five minutes looking for the bar, and I don't even remember what I wanted to look up. This could happen to others.

EbolaSparkleBear Message fourteenthstar a hundred million times.
The DA Staff need to know about this before more people suffer as you do

AJGlass
A Canadian family lived with a corpse in their upstairs bedroom for six months because they believed the deceased man would be resurrected if they prayed, but the body was discovered when the family was evicted for not paying the mortgage.

"There clearly was an over-exuberance of one's faith," said defense lawyer Peter Boushy.

Understatement of the year?

That said, in some cultures in Africa and South America they still do mummify their dead and keep them in their homes.
It's kinda freaky but then again, why let grandma go to waste when you can use her corpse as a trivet to serve tea on? :tea:
